Watching Jessie Rogers break down her process of anal put a lot into perspective for me. If you watch the video, you’ll see what I mean—but more than that, it made me think about my own first-time experience and how it lines up with what Jessie is explaining.

To be honest, I’ve realized I don’t really care about the technical ins and outs of anal. That’s something I only fully understood after watching this video, because Jessie’s candidness makes one thing clear: you have to take anal for what it is. It’s messy, it’s imperfect, and it's not always going to look like what you see in porn—and that’s okay.

Earlier this year, I wrote a post about my first experience with anal, and if you’ve read it, you’ll know it didn’t exactly go how I imagined. I had expectations shaped by porn—scenes where everything looks flawless and seamless. But that’s just performance. Watching Jessie talk about her own experiences helped me understand that expecting porn-like results in real life is setting yourself up for disappointment. Anal isn't glamorous—it’s real, and “real” means unpredictable. Sometimes literally messy.

In the video, Jessie and the hosts go deep into all aspects of anal: prepping, cleaning, first-time nerves, and what it means to have natural control over your body. That last part—about learning your body and how to work with it—was what stood out to me most. But even as they discussed different stages, the conversation always circled back to cleaning, comfort, and expectations.

What really clicked for me is that complications are part of the process. Reading through the replies on my original post, a lot of people were saying it’s totally possible to have anal with zero mess. And while that might be true for some, Jessie’s video made me realize that it’s not always realistic to think everything will go perfectly every time—or even the first time.

I didn’t have the worst-case scenario happen—no shit on the floor or anything like that—but if it had happened, I think I would have to learn to be okay with it. Or at least understand it’s part of the deal. Because when you’re doing anal, that’s a possibility that just comes with the territory. That’s just my take—how I processed the video and related it to my own experience. Obviously, other people will see different things and take away their own meaning, and that’s perfectly valid too.
