Today, I had the pleasure of interviewing one of the biggest BBW stars in the industry, Julie Ginger. It was a great experience because I vibed with her so well that it felt like I was talking to someone from my own neighborhood. As usual, we covered a lot of topics, but in the middle of our conversation, she brought up something that happened to her while on tour in New York. She had received an extremely distasteful text, and I could completely sympathize because it’s one of the reasons I choose not to post certain things here.
The text in question is over here, and as you can see, it’s pretty messed up. The gist of it is that a client didn’t want to pay Julie’s rate, and instead of just saying nothing, he decided to send a message belittling her. That makes absolutely no sense to me. There was no reason to send that text—none at all—but this person went out of their way to be negative and tear someone down. For what? Because you wanted to see her but couldn’t afford to? Instead of just moving on, you chose to shit-talk her? You have to be dealing with some real personal issues to act like that.
It also made me reflect on why I rarely post certain things in the community—things that society finds "disgusting" or outside the norm. It’s because of goofy shit like this. I know we’re respectful here, which is why I feel comfortable speaking my mind, but there are still things I choose not to share. Not because I’m ashamed, but because I don’t want to deal with people like that. It’s exhausting.
I just don’t get it! I will never understand why, for some people, being disrespectful is the go-to instead of just saying nothing. And if they’re not being outright disrespectful, they’re dropping little subliminals, thinking no one will catch on.
It’s really not hard to be cordial, and that text was the farthest thing from it. I’m truly grateful that people like that aren’t part of this community, and I pray they never find their way in.
