Every provider is different. Actually, let’s broaden that: every person is different when it comes to feeling comfortable with others, especially within specific time frames. Clients often gravitate toward one- or two-hour bookings, and providers generally accommodate that. But it does raise an interesting question: what’s the "sweet spot" for building comfort and connection? While this isn’t universal, there’s probably a moment in every meeting where you feel you’re in the right place. For one Kat Wilde, that sweet spot is four hours—and she’s made it her new minimum.Kat recently shared her thoughts, stating:
"Moving forward, I’ll have a four-hour minimum. Existing clients with whom I’ve established rapport can continue booking at our regular duration and cadence—the connection is already there. I’ve long loved a quick date, but my heart isn’t in those anymore. Time to savor slowly."
I have to say, the way Kat implementing this change is thoughtful. She’s clearly prioritizing quality over quantity, aiming for a deeper, more indulgent experience. For many of us, booking in one-hour intervals might feel natural, but it can also feel rushed—like you’re barely getting a glimpse of Kat’s personality or building any real connection. In this case, her reasoning makes perfect sense.
Kat highlights her own need for longer engagements to fully enjoy her time with clients. She’s likely had her fill of short, transactional dates—what she refers to as "quickies"—and those no longer hold much appeal for her. I can understand that. If you’re looking for genuine fun and connection, longer engagements are often the way to go. For clients only seeking brief encounters, there are plenty of other options out there. But for those who value the deeper connection and intimacy, Kats like her offer a truly elevated experience. Whether four hours is the perfect duration for that, however, is open to debate.
Some clients may find a four-hour minimum too long, especially for a first meeting. For those clients, a multi-session approach might feel more natural. After all, spending that much time and money upfront—$2,600 in this case—without knowing if there’s chemistry is a gamble. You could hit it off, or you could find yourself mismatched. Still, I think her perspective is valid. A strong connection between client and Kat is what makes this hobby enjoyable, even memorable. It’s what keeps us coming back.
Ultimately, the price and time commitment for her new minimum may not suit everyone, but I believe it’s worth it. Her stellar reputation speaks volumes, reassuring clients that they’ll likely have an amazing time. And for me, that assurance alone makes her approach appealing.
