Considering that none of us are civilians in this community, we've all been asked a variety of questions about what we enjoy. One big question that often comes up is: Is there a difference between escorting and adult filming? This question isn't directed solely at us, but since we're deeply involved in this hobby, it often circles back to us providers as well.
In a recent video, the Whatever podcast featured a conversation with another podcaster about this very question. I don't know the podcaster's name, but I've seen him interview several adult actresses, so I suppose he's "qualified" to address these topics. When asked the question, rather than answering directly, he gave a brief explanation of what being on an adult film set is like. However, he didn’t provide a definitive answer about how the two professions differ.
Now, this might sound biased—how could it not?—but I believe there is a clear difference between the two professions. The main reason people tend to lump them together is sex. That’s what everyone thinks of when you mention an escort or an adult actress: sex. And it makes sense, because both fall under the umbrella of sex work. This is a perception that won’t change, and we have to live with that.
As clients, I believe we have a unique perspective that most people don’t. When it comes to booking these actresses, some of us—though not all—are looking for more than just sex. Some of us would love to take these women out to dinner or an event. Is sex an incentive? Sure. But it’s not the primary motivation for all of us.
The podcaster mentioned that he had slept with the same "friends" he’s now defending. As noble as that may seem, I think all he’s really experienced is meeting these “friends” in hotel rooms, and that’s where it ends. There’s nothing wrong with that, but if your only experience with these women is in a hotel room, then you’re not really qualified to speak on the broader issue. You don’t have the full experience to make an informed argument.
As I mentioned before, I don’t know this guy personally, but based on his response, it’s clear he might have been in a bit over his head. Just my opinion.
