Add Instagram to the list of apps who don’t love us. It’s becoming more apparent and annoying that we are slowly losing ways to find booking dates for providers, and providers are increasingly losing ways to post booking dates for their tours. Instagram was never really my go-to for finding tour dates, but every so often the app surprised me. Now, it looks as if I’ll no longer be surprised by Instagram or have a need to be on there much at all.
Supposedly Instagram is blocking accounts posting tours and anything related to meetups. I say supposedly because I don’t know how much I trust this source, and I can’t see how this would work for civilian event planning. Providers do use IG to post tours here and there, but I highly doubt they use it as much as civilians do when it comes to their 9-to-5 jobs. There are any number of club promoters, project managers, venue planners, and travel agents using IG for the purpose of nothing more than their jobs, with a shit ton more people doing the same. I’m sure META configured some kind of algorithm to single out providers, but for some reason that still sounds hard to believe.
Either way, it’s more than possible that META is branching out to stop providing on their apps. Everyone already knew to stay away from META’s apps specifically IG since you could cough wrong on there and get banned. Tour dates are just another reason for META to stop any kind of sex work, regardless of how consensual it is, on their systems.
At this point, it’s becoming more and more obvious we’re getting backed up into a corner. With fewer and fewer places for us to stay informed, it’s only going to get harder for us to enjoy ourselves. That’s why it’s extremely important that we all help each other out as much as possible. The odds will always be against us, because as normal as this hobby is, it will always be taboo to others. All of these civilian apps are no different.
