Because they always get money when there is a booking. Providers also have to deal with a lot of ghosting. One I know went to another city and all the guys canceled. So you have to eat all the costs if you don't charge a deposit.

I don't agree with it but I'm guessing from their perspective he still gets them the entire fee or a large part of the fee even if there is a cancellation.Like a loan shark gangster.
