When Booking Gets Flipped: Why Bidding Platforms Wouldn't Work

Imagine this: instead of endlessly scrolling through endless ads, you simply make a post — “Hey ladies, I’m X, here’s a bit about me, and here’s exactly what I’m looking for.”

You could specify everything: the service you’re after, how many hours, what you’re willing to spend, and even details about the type of provider you’d like to meet. In return, providers could “bid” on your request, either offering their services directly or tailoring a proposal to your preferences.

The idea is simple, but it’s also one that runs into a wall of reality. Because, here’s the thing: it already exists… sort of.

If you’ve spent time in the sugar dating world, you’ll know what I mean. Most “sugar dating” platforms operate under a slightly different label, but behind the curtain, many arrangements are exactly what I just described: X service, for X amount, And yes, I know this from firsthand experience.

So technically, this “provider bidding” idea isn’t as futuristic as it might sound.

The real challenge would be getting providers to adopt it. At EA, we’ve worked hard for years to get known pornstars to join.
For a new “seeing providers reimagined” platform, it would take serious time — and trust — to get traction.

And then there’s the elephant in the room: safety and privacy.

For a "bidding"-style system to work, you’d need rock-solid verification. Every user — both clients and providers — would need to upload ID, a driver’s license, or a passport. That’s the only way to keep out scammers, fake profiles, or worse.

But ask yourself this: would you be comfortable handing over your government ID to a site like that? And do you think providers would? In today’s climate of data leaks and privacy scandals, that’s a tough sell.

So yes — it’s an awesome idea. It’s disruptive, exciting, and maybe even inevitable - though thats maybe a bit too far-fetched.
For now, it’s an idea caught between fantasy and reality. Sugar dating sites are already filling that niche “undercover,” while the full-fledged bidding model would face enormous hurdles in adoption and trust.

Maybe the future will bring us there. Or maybe the risk will always outweigh the reward. Either way, it’s a conversation worth having.
