What do y'all do for a living? Y'all are so casually talking about FMTY's and week long excursions. Becoming a software engineer wasn't the right choice, obviously hahaha.

I was an engineer way back when. If you find the right place it will unlock a lot of upward mobility. I went engineer->sales engineer-> to my current role of do everything to get customers to sign and be happy.
I have a lot of equity and I basically work when I want at this point (full disclosure I take my computer with me on dates - I’m a workaholic).

In the IT industry the only way to really make big bucks is being an independent contractor/consultant or engineering at a FAANG level company.

Personally I have a lot of disdain for people with jobs who don’t create or fix anything. Jobs that simply move money and people around are mostly empty suits IMO. Also comes with playing politics on a daily basis. I have no interest being in the C-suite or fucking around with real estate or active stock trading.
