Tiktok Live Streamers

So I've been on Tiktok quite a bit since the beginning of this summer and I stumbled upon a few lives while doom scrolling in my office in many weekday evenings. I discovered that people stream live on Tiktok. There, streamers "battle" where they're essentially panhandling for "gifts" that are worth a certain amount and whoever has the most points in 5 minutes "wins." Whoever has the most points in a single night are displayed in something called "rankings" where it's a ranking of who has the most points in 24 hours (12 AM ET to 11:59:59 PM ET). The exchange rate to buy this Tiktok currency (streamers call them "diamonds), is about 96 "diamonds" for every $1 you spend on their browser site, and you have to spend more if you buy "diamonds" on the Tiktok app.

Anyway that's just to provide context. Nothing I said above really matters (unless you want to get into it, then be my guest. I'll just say there are better ways to spend your money though)...except this: I heard from the grapevine that there are many streamers on Tiktok accept gifts in exchange for..exclusive services. Now I heard that mostly it's just exchanging money for nudes on snapchat or some shit, but a few of the larger streamers are *allegedly meeting up with their big gifters and...well, I think you know the rest.

From what I have seen in my limited experience, it takes some work to gain the trust of streamers, however, but the more you gift, the more likely they will like you...and will DM you. Now I haven't indulged myself into this world (yet) as I don't know if it's monetarily worth the trouble, but there are some hot ass streamers who do tiktok live full time. And those who do it full time...let me tell you, they all have an insatiable appetite for your money...and many will go to certain lengths to get there. I would say the dynamic is pretty similar to sending a DM on IG to smash an IG model who provides: if you have a blank profile, you're likely not going to get a response back, but if you have a profile and you look good in it and spend money on them? Yeah they're more likely to respond to you.

I'm not saying this is a good idea and can potentially be like throwing money down your toilet, but at least it's something that I think is worth having in the back of everyone's minds, as Tiktok is a platform that is growing exponentially and something a majority of Gen Z users use on a daily basis. In the finance world where I work, it's always about finding the next big thing, the next potential gold mine, seeing where the trends are heading, etc. just to find even a 1% growth in my portfolio where no one else is paying attention, and as the world favors more and more towards the contractor/creator economy, I think Tiktok streaming could be the next big thing...and a potential area to find the next generation of providers.

From the grapevine (allegedly), I'll post a few creators below who I heard exchange gifts for "services" in the comments.

I know a lot of you lean more towards the older side and probably don't use Tiktok this way, but as someone who is always looking for new innovative ways to find potential gold mines, I thought this would at least be worth a discussion (and for anyone who is deep into the Tiktok live space, please share your thoughts).
