Backpage.com was shut down in 2018, and its founders paid a heavy price. After reading this thread again, it hit me: what’s stopping law enforcement from shutting down all the major directories in the United States like Slixa, Eros, and Tryst.link? They have the power to deem each of these sites as "trafficking hubs" and shut them down.

Let’s face it, prostitution will never be fully legal in the U.S. (except in Nevada), but it still happens everywhere. Right now, I’d argue that around 10,000 sessions are taking place across the country. Who knows, there might already be a case being built against those directories. It can take years to put together a case that holds up in court, but one day—BAM—they could seize these sites for good.

But new ones will just pop up, and law enforcement will never succeed in shutting down every site. In my view, it’s money down the drain: lawyers’ fees, judges' fees, overtime, etc. These resources could be better spent elsewhere.

My question is: could law enforcement eventually come for the major directories?
