Three people were arrested in Miami on Thursday after an undercover prostitution sting tied to Miami Music Week, according to authorities. Investigators said the operation was carried out by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office Human Trafficking Task Force along with the Miami Police Department as part of efforts to identify possible trafficking victims during major South Florida events, including Miami Music Week and Ultra Music Festival.
According to the arrest report, detectives monitored online escort ads and made contact through Eros.com before being directed to 34-year-old Axhel Perea, who authorities say coordinated the meeting. Police said Perea allegedly told the undercover detective he had multiple women available, sent photographs, discussed payment options, and arranged for two women to meet at a Miami hotel. Once inside, investigators said an agreement for sexual services was made, and officers then moved in to detain everyone involved.
The two women were identified as Maria Ribeiro, 33, and Sandra Huaman, 31. Authorities said Huaman told detectives she had recently returned to the United States and reconnected with Perea before the hotel meeting, while Ribeiro said she had known him for about a year. Jail records show all three were booked on prostitution-related charges, including deriving support from prostitution and directing another person to a place for prostitution. As of Friday morning, Perea’s bond had not yet been set, while Ribeiro’s bond was listed at $5,000 and Huaman’s at $150.
