Getting Talent Tested at East Meadow

As some of you know, I had a hell of an adventure yesterday. Getting tested was very much a hassle that I didn’t expect this week. I went on my rant that, in my opinion, was a bit much, but I still think valid points were made. Regardless, the change in testing site gave me a reason to visit a new place and give my small review on how welcoming and easy the process was.

Prior to this, I wrote about my first experience at the Lexington Medical facility. I thought that was a great place to get tested, but it felt so much easier getting tested at AFC Urgent Care in Long Island or East Meadow, to be exact.

Even with East Meadow not being my first choice, I’m glad I went there. As I said, AFC Urgent Care was where I had my testing done. It’s really no different from a MedExpress or CityMD. The atmosphere felt like being in an emergency room without actually being in one. If you’ve been to one of these medical places, then you know it’s just people minding their business.

They don’t really go by appointments, but going through the site first helps. The receptionist just had to pull up my name, and from there, I signed in like every other patient. The sign-in portion was pretty tedious, but I figured I’d just have to wait to be called. Nope if you’ve never been there before, you have to go through the boring stuff. Once that was all done, it took about 10 minutes or so to be called, since there weren’t a lot of people there. I was called in, got my blood pressure done, and was asked the usual questions. Then I was taken to the back, where the nurse grabbed my FedEx bag along with my pee cup and empty blood vials. I went to the bathroom to give my sample, and afterward, they drew my blood.

All in all, I was in the building for about 30 minutes, give or take. No problems, no lingering eyes just me walking through like every other patient who needs to see a doctor. I much prefer this over the atmosphere at Lexington Medical. I have no idea why, but it always felt awkward there, unlike here where I didn’t feel like I had a bunch of eyes on me or people knew why I was there. That always gave me a shitty feeling. At East Meadow, you blend in so well it doesn’t matter. I’d rather that than feeling eyes on me.
