In that sub there was a sticky post warning clients about deposits, im curious what this forums take is on providing a deposit

If you are booking through a reputable agency you are absolutely safe providing a deposit.
If you are negotiating directly with a pornstar or high end provider it will be your responsibility to do your research prior to sending a deposit. Make sure their profile is legitimate. The best way to make sure you are sending the deposit to the person you are looking to book is by asking them to FaceTime/Google Meet/Skype you for a quick verification. Make sure you don't take advantage of this. Don't look to have a long conversation. It should be less than 5 minutes just a quick hello, thank you, and I will send the deposit shortly.
I have never had an issue providing any agency or provider any deposit they have asked for. Hope this helps.

on a related note i'd caution against paid video verification. it shouldn't be too much to ask for a provider to send to a dm from their official socials or do a quick video call verification. i know there are girls who might be legit who only do paid verification but i've heard too many stories going the other way. if they hit you with the negging like "oh my real clients aren't too cheap to pay for my time" it's a definite red flag. my personal firm line is to not pay for verification calls but that's just me and you have to figure where yours is.

slightly different rules when it comes to non porn providers. most will not agree to verify at all. those all you can do is check their contact info with their ads/socials and reviews.

some of it depends on your risk tolerance. some girls do the scamming themselves and they don't care. if you're sticking to well reviewed providers and known agencies you're going to be fine with deposits. if you want to play the utr game it's riskier.
