This has been underway for a long time, long before President Trump’s era.

The EU recently pushed for a law that would require all member states to implement systems capable of intercepting WhatsApp, Telegram, and Messenger messages and scanning them for “offensive” or “dangerous” material before the message is even delivered to the recipient’s phone. Alarming? Yes.

My own country, Denmark, was initially on board with it. However, a public petition gained so many verified e-signatures that it actually succeeded in blocking the proposal at a national level, meaning message scanning will not be implemented in Denmark.

That shows that if enough people sign on to something legit, it CAN move up in the system.
