The Admin Fee is getting more and more frequent with providers and it only looks like it’s going to stay. For those that don’t know about Admin Fee, it’s basically a payment you’ll make before initiating any further with the provider. In a nutshell, you’re paying for their time/talking to them. You will not be able to schedule, deposit, or go through any details until that Admin price is paid and usually the price won’t go above $50. Don’t get this payment confused with a deposit, these are two different payments you’ll be making.
This new payment is coming in light of a frequent number of clients initiating booking and paying deposits only to waste the providers time by not seeing them. I don’t know if any clients that go through that much hassle only to completely waste the providers time like that. There are instances when emergencies pop up and clients getting cold feet, but I would assume those are rare occurrences. 
Anyway, I’m curious to what you guys think of all of this. Should we have to pay for others mistakes? Pay a fee to just talk to a provider.
In my opinion, I don’t like that we’re paying for others problems. To have to pay to just talk with a provider is a slippery slope that could migrate into additional payments being created throughout the hobby.

Yea,I'm hearing from a lot of providers that guys keep booking,screening  and canceling, ghosting, etc. One started charging a $100 screening fee. And it seems so many are requiring deposits.

It’s the price we pay for other people screwup. It sucks but sometime we have to be the adult and suck it up. She’s just doing what’s best for her business. Can’t really blame her.

 I understand they have to deal with so many time wasters but this is totally ridiculous. If I go into a shop and ask to see the goods, if I don't buy anything, do I have to pay for the seller's time?

I thought this was what a deposit was for -- You set up an appointment, you flake, you pay. I don't like this admin fee -- There are many times I inquire someone just to be able to ask some questions and details about a meet.. And many times, yes I do walk away. If I had to pay $50 just to send a message to inquire, I'd avoid them.  Many times I put in a booking request just to see if someone is available at a time and date.. and if they aren't available, I back out.  Again, if I had to pay $50 for that, I'd be upset!

To me, this is a potential PR problem -- Why not just increase your deposit by 5% to cover these issues, or increase your rate by $50-$100/hour.  Find creative ways to cover the expense of these inconveniences.  It's like companies that charge 5-10% for credit card purchases. Everyone hates paying that.

Just my two cents. To me, this is a bad bad direction.  Once it catches fire, it'll spread.

I was just looking at Layla hayek and she had a $150 screening fee. So its spreading it seems.
