What are some of your unconventional or alternative methods used to fund this lifestyle and hobby? That don't generally include income from your job or business. Mine personally, a favorite, is playing high limit Blackjack. I can't say it always works out, but more often than not, I take a good 3-5k into the casino, and play that up to 10-12k, and build up a nice fund to meet some of my favorites over a weekend trip to LA, on the house.

I've done this and it actually has worked for me. I remember I dropped $200 on Bitcon and the processed to spread out to other cryptos. In 3 months I tripled my money. I was expecting to get some quick cash from this, because at the time I thought I'd hit one of those big cryptos and walk away with like 50 grand; that didn't happen. So, I think doing crypto is something that's good for the long term with a decent payout if things go well, but you never know.

It's not really currency, and it is basically fiat. There's nothing tangible backing it up, it's not a commodity. The only thing making it valuable is that people agree it's valuable.

It's not really currency, and it is basically fiat. There's nothing tangible backing it up, it's not a commodity. The only thing making it valuable is that people agree it's valuable.

It’s similar to the virtual version of gold, (it’s scarce, and it’s also “mined” digitally) but it’s decentralized nature makes it fundamentally different from Fiat.

This is what I also do. I've been a sports bettor longer than I've been in this game. Honestly, if you don't go crazy and go in with some statistics, restraint, and only focus on one, two, sports max, you can easily make profit this way. Plus, think long term rather than short terms. And always, know when to call it quits (take a break) if you have a losing week. (Which happens to everyone in this). I've made an extra 5000-25000 annual (in addition to my salary) in the years I've done this. (I've been doing this since 2005).

You are also funding the goverment if you are pulling the money out of a rollover IRA to fund the hobby. Better to fund the hobby on LT capital gains or the joel goodson method of real estate loans.

I know I’m funding the government with taxes and early withdrawal penalties but outside of my AAPL stock, I’m basically middle class and boring, pretty much cash poor without much ability to invest in anything that would earn me enough to hobby.

But even after taking out enough in the past year to have seen 35 porn stars on 45 dates, I have more in my IRA than I had before taking anything out. So I’m ok with it. It’s been worth it for me.

Hell, i'd like some idea for conventional side gigs for funding the hobby outside of rental properties. Doing Uber-eats just gives you a smelly car and puts miles on your rig haha.
