I financed the hobby with loans I took on paid off rental properties that I inherited.
Once I can legally get rid of all the tenants (LA tenant rights are hard to beat), I will sell them to buy a house I can barely afford, but a bank will approve the loan with my high income W2.

I make sure that I max out my retirement accounts and finance my lifestyle with available credit. Eventually, AI will make my tech job obsolete, and the hobby would have left me in so much debt that once unemployment runs out, I won’t have a penny to my name, so I’ll file for Chapter 7 and it’ll wipe out all my hobby debt. My retirement accounts will be safe from it, and I can’t be forced to sell my home if there isn’t enough equity in it, which I will make sure it’s under the threshold. My credit will be fucked, but that eventually corrects itself after 10 years. By then, I’ll have found a way to repeat the cycle all over again.

I am assuming the hypothetical work vehicle has insurance and that insurance policy has uninsured motorist coverage which is what you would try to get.
