Just curious how often do guys get these threatening calls/texts.. I’m getting like one a month right now and I know they’re spam but damn they sure do try...

I get those once in a while. I like to have some fun with them - I text back, ‘Hey, your message has been forwarded to the local police department.’ Then I have a friend call the number, he has a really deep voice and say, ‘This is Officer [Name]. We’ve received multiple disturbance reports linked to your number...’ By that point, they usually stop calling or messaging.

first never respond to a number you dont know. its the entire reason Voicemail exists. and never respond to a number that texts you that you dont know either.
report it as spam
once they get a response they KNOW the number is real and active...thats step #1
#2...they mark it as active and do a search and try to find as much info on that number as possible. all social media, facebook, anything about your work..ALL of it
#3 comes the calls and the text messages threatening to release all your secrets to work family and work and destroy your life unless you pay them through crypto
yeah it can be brutal...but you can avoid all of it by never letting them complete step #1...or just use a burner phone
