You seem to be either misreading or misunderstanding my words. I never said Playboy wasn’t porn, I said it was considered soft porn — which it was. As for the term porn star, the porn industry created that term with video and the associated fan events — it wasn’t a term used for Hustler AFAIK. I also never said that porn actresses (“contract girls”) didn’t also get paid low amounts — I said that by definition almost everyone who shoots independently is not a star. Star power isn’t about how much you get paid (a lot of A-list porn stars didn’t get paid very much, as you alluded to), it’s about relative fame.

As for Netflix, I didn’t say they didn’t win awards — I said the entire industry (not just studios) hates them. There’s a reason the Screen Actors’ Guild and Directors’ Guild wants them disqualified from the Oscars, because Netflix wins awards by playing movies in theaters for a week to become eligible. As for whether people still come to cinemas for movies, people still do go to cinemas for good movies — the box office shows that. The culture shift is that studios can’t bank on mid movies mitigating risk for high budget films, because as you said people will watch those at home.
