I don’t take the blacklist as seriously as I once did. At one point, the BL was something I thought was the worst thing that could happen to any of us. It was common knowledge that if any client was put on that list, it meant you were barred from seeing any provider. Your name and information were out there, only a selected few were able to see it, and that was enough to have any of us spinning out of control since, for some, this is a way of life. This is the enjoyment we don’t otherwise get in our civilian lives, which makes us want to cherish this hobby even more. The BL is a list I’m beginning to understand is not so much something to fear, as it’s a list created by providers who themselves don’t take it seriously.
The BL was created for numerous reasons. I can list them out, but every single reason was created with one purpose in mind: keeping providers safe. We’ve learned through countless examples how dangerous certain clients can be, so the BL was created in order to keep providers safe from these clients. We have our no list as well, but ours is more in the open because we just don’t give a fuck. Anyway, with the BL being as important as it is, you would think it would be coveted. It would be protected with the common sense that it should only be seen by trustworthy individuals who’d use it responsibly. That doesn’t seem to be the case.
As important as the BL is, some providers have used and abused the list for personal gain. There have been cases where the list is shown to the public a number of times by the providers who were trusted to keep it private. They not only put clients’ information out in the open, as well as providers’, they show a lack of care for the BL and all it does.
Then there’s the personal gain some use the BL for. Providers will put a client on the list whom they see as a whale, not because they’re dangerous, but because they’re a whale. That client is someone they can profit off of and would rather not have others find out about, since they want all the money as well as that client’s attention for themselves. Mind you, the client doesn’t know this until another provider ends up telling them. They’re completely in the dark, wondering why they aren’t getting bookings, leaving them to turn to the only provider who is seeing them. This is just an abuse of authority that some providers use to get their way, not taking into account what they’re doing.
Then there is the gossip side of the BL. When providers talk about the BL with clients so bluntly that it just rolls off their tongue different names of clients thinking we don’t have a network of our own. That we don’t share information either through online communities or with close friends. Either way, what’s said in that hotel room doesn’t entirely stay in that hotel room.
I’m not trying to put all the blame on providers here. You know what? I think I am. As clients, we shouldn’t have access to this list whatsoever. The only way it can get out is if providers put it out there. There are numerous lists out there being “protected” as we speak, and to know none of them are really secured isn’t something providers should take lightly. I’m not saying the BL has no meaning. I’m sure it’s keeping more women safe every day more than anything, but how can I or any client take this list seriously when some providers don’t?
