I don't believe it's a hard thing to ask that we get the fantasy we pay for. This isn't so much an unspoken rule as it is the catalyst that binds the entire hobby together. It’s what makes everything go round and shouldn’t have to be questioned. Maybe redefined as the fantasy is a simple word on a very broad spectrum of what's being offered today, but it still stands that we’re asking to turn our dreams into a reality if only for a moment. When that comes into question, then so does why we do this.
This post had me a little perplexed. A friend sent it to me, and all I could do was stare at it. There were no real words that I could think of at the moment, so I decided to break down the post. From the example she has, the client specifies having a bad experience that felt too transactional and dislikes transactional experiences. I can attest to the second part, as I dislike transactional experiences as much as the next person. They aren’t exciting and they leave little to repeat over. Some do enjoy the in-and-out type of client, as they’re more conventional with the very base of the hobby. You aren’t paying for the sex you’re paying to leave.
The next part has me at a loss. Taking into account the provider giving her opinion respectfully, her saying “I want everything for nothing” doesn’t make all that much sense to me. Last I checked, this hobby is a give and take. I don't believe we as clients want everything just what's expected after the provider is contacted, a deposit is left, and finally paid in full. Some of us do ask for the world, but I believe the majority understand what we paid for and know you get what you pay for.
Finally, the last part has me understanding from more of a vain outlook. If you read the comment the provider wrote on her post, you might get confused by the part asking for respect that she says needs to be earned. In my opinion, in order for the client/provider relationship to work, there has to be at least a small amount of mutual respect there especially if I'm booking you for the first time. If the relationship persists over time, then I understand this comment completely, though expecting this top-tier respect off the bat doesn’t make much sense to me. Back to my vain outlook: I believe this is coming more from a transactional side, as in the provider thinks the client should be paying more for said experience, thereby earning that respect. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, though it seems as if that’s what this comment was pointing toward.
This post could be coming from frustration or annoyance with clients, as we can be annoying. Still, this does make you think about the hobby altogether on what providers to book and what they're really after. If this provider feels like this, then who's to say others don’t? If the fantasy is too much for them, then maybe we should book shorter appointments to get in and out. Yeah, this makes you think.
