Olympic gold medalist and wrestling icon Kyle Snyder has been charged in connection with a prostitution sting in Columbus, Ohio.
The 29-year-old former Ohio State wrestling star was among 16 men arrested on May 9 during an undercover police operation targeting sex work and solicitation.
According to the Columbus Division of Police, Snyder was caught engaging in prostitution inside a hotel room on the city’s north side. The arrest came as part of a coordinated effort by the department’s Police and Community Together (PACT) unit, which published decoy ads online to lure individuals seeking paid sexual encounters.
Police say Snyder responded to one of the ads and initiated contact via text messages and phone calls. After agreeing on a time and location, he arrived at the hotel, handed money to an undercover female officer, and requested a sexual act—prompting his arrest.
Although he was detained at the scene, Snyder was released shortly after and has been ordered to appear in court on May 19.
The Columbus Police said the sting operation was part of a broader initiative to "reduce" prostitution in the city’s north side.
First of all, once again—wow. Another guy arrested just because he wanted to have a good time with a woman. Second, seriously—don’t the police have actual crimes to deal with?
Either way, it’s a messed-up story.
