I actually think waste and excess is what started this.

Waste and excess leads to a recession/depression people do things considered taboo to survive. This becomes normalized because recession/depressions take awhile to get through. When the economy improves these taboo things don't go away everyone is used to them now.

Example first recession/depression in 2008 - 2013

Before then banging a pornstar was hard back then but when the recession hit you could get one for $500.

Dating apps came out around that time

Then covid hit so then that spilled over to everyday people covid lock downs were for a few years so online sex work became for normalized for everyday people.

Next is prostitution.
Basically girls will sell nudes makes good money. That dries up because guys wanna see women do more. So now solo with toys then thst dries up. So now its her with her boy friend money usually explodes then and if she breaks up with him she's gotta find another male talent maybe a tinder date maybe a hot male friend. Eventually she seeks out popular male content creators who pay her.

Then the logical switch is if content creators can pay for direct access then why not sibscribers? Then after that is its straight up prostitution.

Your analogy here is spot on. You go through a brief timeline of what happen prior which lead to people seeking more connection. Then when COVID hit that feeling was amplified by a shitload, but onlyfans was there to pick up most of the slack. With OF no longer what it use to be these content creators are already sex worker, so providing could be the next logical step even though it doesn't have to be. The hobby is going to be saturated with new providers which could be good for a little bit then like Onlyfans you'll have that 1% doing better then the others with everyone trying to compete. With that competition comes rate hikes something we're use to bur rather not deal with. With them exhausting all means to advertise themselves through Eros or TrystLink some will find agencies to further their advertisement with them also having to get their piece as well. Only fair given the amount of work agencies put in.

God knows I miss the old days. Was so much easier to book and the rates were bliss. I just don't see us ever getting back to it.
