I can count the number of sex worker-beneficial organizations on one hand. I know sex workers should be grateful that these organizations exist at all, but the fact that so few of them are out there makes it difficult for some to even find them. So, I figured—why not highlight one here? Even though these organizations may not be widely known, hopefully, at least one curious provider stumbles upon this and gets the help she needs.

The SWAID Collective is an aid and harm reduction organization run by sex workers, for sex workers. Their main initiative is to provide financial assistance, promote safe sex practices, and support harm reduction efforts. The community works quickly and efficiently to help any sex worker in need while ensuring absolute privacy—including keeping identities confidential.

As crazy as it may sound, not every provider is an elite companion with her life completely together. In fact, sometimes the ones who appear to have everything figured out are the ones who need help the most. I’ve heard stories of providers struggling with addiction, some overdosing or taking bad drugs. SWAID understands that a provider will only seek sobriety when she’s ready, so instead of forcing solutions, they offer harm reduction supplies. For those using substances, the community provides fentanyl test strips and Narcan—essential tools to stay safe in critical moments.

Beyond that, SWAID promotes safe sex in all aspects. They offer condoms, hygiene products, and other essentials to help providers work as cleanly and safely as possible. And because things happen, they also supply Plan B and pregnancy tests. If you need any of these, you just have to fill out SWAID’s harm reduction supply form, and they’ll get your request fulfilled as soon as possible—typically on a first-come, first-served basis.

Even though SWAID seems small, they have some major sponsors backing them. Brazzers, one of the biggest adult studios in the world, is a key supporter. Clear, the well-known adult testing facility, is also involved, as is ASN Lifestyle Magazine, the award-winning adult lifestyle publication. With sponsors like these, a seemingly small organization like SWAID is able to help a wide range of people.

SWAID itself isn’t well-known—at least not to clients—but it’s gaining recognition. With all the joy and companionship providers offer, from physical intimacy to simply being someone to talk to, giving back in a small way—like donating—seems like a no-brainer.

If you’re interested in donating, you can contribute here. The site breaks down exactly how the funds are used and where the money goes will also offering a nice tax break. For more information you can check below.
