Legal Courtesans Can Still be Arrested Even Working in Brothels

I was today years old when I learned courtesans can still be arrested in legal brothels. Yup! This has to be some of the most backward shit I’ve ever heard. I mean, legal brothels are supposed to be a genuine safe haven for providers—a place where they can work without the risk of getting arrested. But apparently, that’s not always the case.

And what really got me was the way I found this out—through a surprising source and in a pretty unexpected way.

Emma West, a courtesan currently working at Sheri’s Ranch, recently put out a post on her social media. It was a breakdown of the dos and don’ts when it comes to contacting a legal provider like herself. Someone had reached out to her trying to discuss specific activities ahead of time, and Emma wasn’t having it. She shut it down fast and pointed out that talking about acts before arriving can come off like a law enforcement sting. It’s apparently a huge red flag to legal providers—and understandably so.

Before I even had the chance to comment, I saw that @martymcfly1955 had already said exactly what I was thinking. I had no idea LE could do this to legal providers who are operating out of a ranch, where everything is supposed to be above board.

Emma replied to Marty with the following comments…

I have no proof it's from LE. I wanted people to know if we seem a little paranoid about unclear laws it's for good reason. I do know that sex workers pay a lot of extra taxes and fees to fund peace officers and it seems a little unfair if it's funding work like this.
I do know that Nevada has laws that makes it legal for them to do things that would count as entrapment in other states. I have heard rumors that they do target even legal sex workers from time to time. And yes we are subject to random checks in our rooms from LE as well.

Right away, this had my brain running on double time. What sense does it make to have a brothel if LE is still out here trying their hardest to lock up providers—even when they’re doing everything legally?

Now, I don’t know if Emma is speaking gospel. Maybe she’s wrong. Maybe LE isn’t sending out texts like this. When you actually look at the message, I can totally see a client writing that entire thing—unnecessarily detailed, trying to lay out acts when it’s not needed. But still, you can’t tell if it’s an over-eager client or an undercover cop fishing for a gotcha moment.

From my perspective, Emma’s a legal provider working in a legal brothel. This is literally her life. So when she speaks on this, I tend to believe she knows what she’s talking about. She’s living it, day in and day out.

And honestly? I don’t get why LE would go that far to target people who are following the rules. But at the same time… would I put it past them? Not even a little bit.
