I think this is a common sense type of thing. Like a lot of things in a hobby that’s as delicate as ours, some things just don’t mix very well. The kind of things that can cause real problems in the moment. Things that might seem like a good idea — even with two consenting adults — just aren’t the smartest move given the unpredictability of it all. Drugs, as fun as some may be, just don’t seem to make sense during a session whatsoever.
The fact I saw this from a provider is strange. Pushing the idea of actually taking drugs on a date — whether jokingly or not — seems like a disaster waiting to happen. This brings me back to the provider’s comment, the one that specifically pointed out taking mushrooms and going to the aquarium as a date idea. As pretty fucking fun as that would be, I don’t believe doing that with a provider is the best course of action for any client in any scenario. Even though this shit sounds fun as hell and I’ll probably do this with some friends — it’s just not right for this context.
There are too many ways that this can go wrong. I could list them all, but again, common sense should tell you that being inebriated while with a provider — who is still someone you don’t really know — is just not a good idea. I understand that some of us have relationships that would speak differently to what I’m writing. There are those who’ve been with the same providers for years and feel comfortable being that vulnerable. I’ve smoked weed with a provider or two, and when I think about it, anything could have happened in that point and time that could’ve fucked me down the line. The only reason I felt somewhat okay about it was because it was my weed — I knew where it came from. I didn’t have to wonder if it was laced or tampered with. Still, even then, it wasn’t a smart move.
We’re living in a time where what happens behind closed doors between two people can be life-altering. It doesn’t really matter what went down — a number of variables can be spun to make the client look bad. Having to explain why your provider is reacting badly to a substance, or why you’re possibly missing money from your wallet, isn’t a position anyone wants to be in.
Obviously, I can’t tell anyone what to do. This is just me being cautious for the community’s sake. I’d rather none of us get caught up in some kind of scandal — whether that be when we’re high or drunk. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.
Also, I’m not saying drugs are bad. Certain drugs can be awesome — if used correctly.
