The Canadian providers just over the borders are of a whole different breed. They're beautiful with thir own set of rules of what they offer that puts some state side providers to shame. The only reason why we don't experience them as much, is because border patrol are very strict on who goes in and out of their country. Biggest reason why state side providers don't often visit Canada.
Early this year, I wrote about how difficult it can be to get pass border patrol if you're a provider. Mentioning them using different types of technology to know who goes in and out of the country. What I didn't know was they were also able to go through phone, tablets, and such of civilians as well. From my point of view, this seems like a pretty big invasion of privacy but I guess this is the world we live in. With a new court ruling that no longer seems the case anymore.
A recent court ruling on July 24 shakes things up by saying that border agents can't just search your devices without a warrant anymore. A professor from Columbia University, who was part of the case, mentioned that this ruling makes it clear that a warrant is needed before border agents can look through your personal stuff on your devices.
This started back when a U.S. citizen, had his phone taken by border agents at JFK in 2022. They made him give up his password, and he later argued that this violated his Fourth Amendment rights because they found some illegal material on his phone.
The court also looked at how these kinds of searches might scare journalists and impact press freedom. While they said the warrantless search was unconstitutional, they noted the government acted in good faith at the time.
This could be a major game changer for the hobby overall. As I said, so many providers feared crossing border patrol off the chance they'll be found out as a sex worker and either brought up on chargers or barred from the country for an undisclosed amount of time. This doesn't so much make it easier for providers to enter the country given there are still other things in place, but it makes it very possible now we'll see an influx providers.
Here's the article.
